Solution Overview
Pain Points for Church Sound Reinforcement
● The interior of churches are often tall and spacious, where sound is attenuated by reflection and absorption, making it difficult for listeners to hear sermons or music.
In large churches, the preacher needs to speak very loudly in order to be heard by all the listeners. This places a great strain on the preacher’s voice.
Churches are not only used for religious services, but also for different events such as concerts and lectures.
In churches, listeners are often required to sit for long periods of time, which makes it difficult for them to concentrate.

Design Approach
● In cathedrals abroad, the space is large and the walls are not allowed to be sound-absorbed, so the reverberation time is generally long and it is difficult to hear clearly in the back seat of the church. This means that the sound reinforcement system needs to provide excellent dispersion control to minimize reflection. Electro-acousticians have had good results with column speakers consisting of small speakers installed on the sides of columns in churches, facing towards the audience. From an acoustic point of view, the small column speakers increases the directivity of the loudspeaker system, improves the coverage area, enhances direct sound and increases the intelligibility of speech. From the transmission frequency range, the small speakers for sound radiation provides a narrower frequency range and no low-frequency radiation, and will not stimulate low-frequency reverberation, but it has met the requirements for language transmission. From the perspective of radiated sound power, the radiation power of small speakers is relatively small and decays quickly, which is not enough to stimulate the reverberation in the room and overcomes the interference of long reverberation on speech.
When arranging church speakers, it is also necessary to take into account the number, position, angle and height of the speakers to ensure that the sound can cover the whole church evenly and will not produce echoes or noise. At the same time, it is also necessary to choose the appropriate appearance and color for the speakers according to the decoration style and design requirements of the church, so as to maintain the aesthetics of the whole church.

Configuration Solution for a 800㎡ Church

Sound Pick-up Part: The true diversity wireless handheld microphone, lavalier microphone and wired condenser microphone as well as floor-stand type condenser microphone are used to ensure the speeches of speakers and leaders. Moreover, an antenna amplification system is employed to minimize wireless signal loss or crosstalk.
Regulation and Control Part: The digital mixing console and digital audio processor are applied to regulate and control the whole system, with a variety of audio signal input and output interfaces to output multiple channels of audio signals and connect various audio inputs and outputs. The digital audio processor has abundant built-in peripheral module for a range of processing operations on the whole system, while ensuring the signal-to-noise ratio and reducing the failure rate. The feedback suppressor quickly and automatically analyzes and discovers the feedback frequency through advanced DSP algorithms, determines the frequency point, frequency width and attenuation of the notch filter, and filters out only the feedback signal, with no damage to the music signal, delivering extremely high fidelity.
Sound Retrieval System: 2 phased array column speakers are adopted for main amplification, each of which is designed with 10 4.5” speaker units, and 8 phased array column speakers are used for auxiliary amplification, each of which is designed with 10 4” speaker units. The phased array column speaker holds a built-in digital equalizer to effectively improve the sound quality. Featuring good sound quality, high performance, easy to use and easy to install, it can effectively reduce sound energy loss and improve speech intelligibility, enabling listeners to hear a more natural and authentic sound. Combined with the monitor speakers, the system can be manually intervened and adjusted at any time, so that the user can be allowed to modulate the system as required at any time.
System Protection: The power sequence controller is equipped to ensure the safety and reliability of the system equipment in use, and protect the equipment from damage, especially in the event of an accident.
