Stadium Sound Systems with IP Network & Professional Sound Reinforcement

I.Solution Overview

System Positioning: The sound reinforcement system for large‑scale stadiums serves as core infrastructure for information announcement, event support and on‑site atmosphere creation.

Key Challenges: Stadium venues feature vast acoustic spaces, long reverberation periods and wide coverage ranges. These conditions bring substantial difficulties in realizing favorable speech intelligibility, consistent sound pressure distribution and stable system operation.

Design Objectives: A well‑engineered stadium sound reinforcement solution shall provide clear, synchronized and trustworthy audio coverage for both spectator zones and competition fields under complicated acoustic conditions. Meanwhile, it needs to accommodate various scenarios including sports competitions, mass assemblies and live performances.

Project Requirements

Speech Intelligibility: Guarantees clear transmission of live commentary, on‑site instructions and emergency notifications for the whole venue.

Uniform Sound Pressure Level: Achieves consistent sound‑field coverage over spectator seating and competition zones, eliminating acoustic dead spots and mitigating excessive sound reflections.

Full‑Area Public Address: It enables background music playback, voice paging and information release for all venue zones, covering spectator stands, competition grounds, VIP zones, athlete facilities, passageways, parking lots and outdoor plazas.

Emergency Safety Assurance: The system can interface with fire‑alarm hardware and auto‑switch into emergency broadcasting mode upon trigger, so evacuation directives can be broadcast distinctly and instantly to every area.

Intelligent Centralized Management: Via an IP network‑oriented platform, the system realizes unified control for sound reinforcement, public address, conference and other subsystems, lowering maintenance workload and boosting operational efficiency.

2.System Overall Architecture

Professional Sound System

Core Function:It delivers professional sound reinforcement for competition grounds and spectator zones to realize high‑fidelity audio performance.

Design Goal:It satisfies strict technical requirements for large‑scale events such as sports contests and live stage performances in terms of sound pressure output, speech intelligibility and consistent sound‑field coverage.

Flexible Configuration:Three solution tiers (A/B/C) are available, corresponding to high‑end, mid‑range and basic setups. They can accurately adapt to varying venue dimensions and budget constraints.

IP Network PA System

Full-Area Coverage:Covers public areas, offices, locker rooms, and parking lots throughout the venue, ensuring clear and seamless broadcasting with no blind spots.

Intelligent Control:Supports zone management, scheduled playback, and remote paging, with the highest priority integration for fire alarm and emergency evacuation systems.

Stable & Reliable:Built on an independent digital network architecture to ensure stable transmission of daily announcements and emergency evacuation messages.

Core Architecture: Physical Isolation for Enhanced Safety and Efficiency

The two systems are completely independent at the physical layer, ensuring that the sound quality of the professional sound reinforcement system remains free from interference while maintaining the priority and security of emergency responses in the IP-based public address system. This parallel architecture provides dual protection for event experiences and venue operations, balancing professional performance with practical management needs.

DSP358 Waterproof Column Speaker

120W outdoor waterproof column speaker designed for mid-to-near field fill coverage in stand zones. Its wide vertical coverage bridges the gap between near and far fields, ensuring smooth sound distribution.

DSP158 Waterproof Column Speaker

40W compact waterproof column speaker deployed across multiple stand levels for precise near-field coverage, enhancing speech intelligibility and overall sound uniformity.

Amplification & Processing System

Power amplifiers drive each speaker zone for seamless and even venue-wide coverage. Professional audio processors optimize sound field performance and intelligibility, while mixers enable flexible switching between different audio sources and scenarios, delivering clear, stable, and comprehensive sound reinforcement for large venues.

DSPPA Featured Project: Dolon Omurzakov Stadium, Kyrgyzstan (23,000 Seats)

Key Advantages of the Solution

Long-Throw Projection & High Transmission Efficiency

The acoustic impedance matching design of horn speakers delivers higher electro-acoustic conversion efficiency than conventional speakers. With only 300W power, it achieves long-distance projection and easily covers the farthest seating areas of a 23,000-seat stadium.

Weatherproof Design for All-Weather Operation

The one-piece fiberglass horn enclosure features excellent waterproof and dustproof performance, high-temperature resistance, and UV protection, ensuring stable long-term operation in outdoor environments with reduced maintenance requirements and failure rates.

Horn & Column Speaker Combination Coverage

The long-throw horn speakers provide main far-field coverage, while DSP358/DSP158 waterproof column speakers deliver zoned near- and mid-field fill coverage. With 90 speakers working together, the system achieves seamless venue-wide coverage and improved sound uniformity compared with a single horn speaker solution.

Cost-Efficient & Budget-Friendly Solution

Compared with line array systems, the horn and column speaker combination offers lower equipment costs, eliminating the need for dedicated rigging structures and high-end processors. The overall investment is approximately 50%–60% of a line array solution, making it an economical choice.

Suitable Applications: Cost-sensitive outdoor stadiums with a capacity of 20,000–30,000 people, prioritizing speech intelligibility in open-air environments.
